i can say, from being around teenage girls and talking to parents' of teenage girls, that modesty is a thing of the past -- distant past. the girls that are dressing so inappropriately have no idea, in most cases, that they are dressing that way. being half naked, or fully naked, in front of their peers is NOT an issue with them today; it's very frightening to an old-schooler like me but it's the blatant truth. it's no big deal to them. whether or not their intention is one of seduction in every case remains to be seen. i think they just do it like we did jeans and tee shirts every day of our high school life. they aren't holding hands in the back of the bus today.
the gym girl probably has no idea she is dressing inappropriately; she's been shown, time and time again, that flaunting your tats, azz, and midriff is just the style today. it's no big deal.
honestly, i pity my son having gone thru 4 years of high school "not knowing where to look" and we have a supposed dress code....
we have co-ed high school gym classes.....including a unit on swimming. some girls wear bikinis, others wear speedos. i'm sure my son learned alot about the backstroke in that class. but wouldn't it make sense to say TEAM SUITS FOR ALL THE GIRLS......???
not sure i'd even mention the girl coach unless it's from a "hey, let's have a stricter dress code for gym class" kinda thing.

Even better, how 'bout this follow-up question: "By the way, does anyone have a digital camera that I can borrow?"

not all of it is inappropriately... even the nice skate clothing that girls are wearing (while very fitted), still keeps them covered... but the low rise, slim fit, tight tight tight everywhere doesn't leave much to the imagination. it's not so much that girls are always looking for ways to flaunt themselves - it's just the hip clothing.
it's concerning to think that 13 y/o's would look like that... but then again when i was in high school - that's what the boys were looking at.
girls are a lot more concerned about fashion now... so long as they are healthy, and not whoring themselves around - i don't think it's the worst think... some look like little tramps - but others just happen to look cute (sometimes cute and suggestive).
styles will change again.

your doomed.
and it's not like the guys all enjoy it. my friend brought his younger sister to a movie with us - and i'm not sure exactly how old she is - 16? maybe?
i didn't entirely feel right everytime she walked by my seat and her smallest-jeans-ever-behind was thrust in my face. but that's the style.
if cute/covered: it's fine. if trampy: no dice.

word.
AE and abercrombie and most of those other stores would let you put together pretty sensible clothing and still look 'hot' or whatever she's going for. but still covered.
just stay away from the bar wear & hiphop clothing

Well, you need to say something to someone, IMO. I wouldn't want my daughter to dress like that. Maybe mom doesn't know. And then again, maybe mom knows and doesn't care (although dad probably would). At any rate, you can say something tactfully to someone, the other PE teacher first perhaps, and if you see it again the next time you sub, then you talk to the principal. If we had more teachers speaking up when they see our children dressing inappropriately, then I would guess we'd see less of this hoochie-mama stuff. JMO.
