Have any of you CLEPed out of courses? If so, how much did you study? Did you use a CLEP study book? How hard were the tests? Do you feel you learned anything, or just enough to get that CHECK in the box that says you completed another requirement?
There are 4-5 easier courses I need and don't really see myself learning anything valuable in them. If I could CLEP them then I could ease up with school next year. Otherwise we're talking 10 courses from summer 1 through spring '05 .

You really have to know the subject to CLEP. Big risk of just being out the money. I had limited sucess with it in college.

I clepped out of 14 credit hours for my undergrad degree--I didn't study at all, just walked in and passed them.
I did see some clep study guides for some psychology courses. I am sure they make a bunch more.
Good luck, you have nothing to lose!

I tested out of 2 years of college Spanish mucho anos ago. I don't remember much about the test. I do remember thinking as I sat in a Spanish Literature course that I had absolutely no idea how I was going to read novels in Spanish, and that I was in way over my head.

Definitely go for it if you think you have the knowledge. Worth a try since it will save you lots of time and money. Good luck.

I CLEP'd 3 classes. Studied a little bit for them. 2 were American History and the other was Anthropology. The history one's were definitely easier.
Great way to get college credit at a fraction of the cost

Sorry, but CLEP just sounds too much like something that happens when you don't wear, um... "protection".

Interesting. Clearly I have not done this, but it looks rather handy...

I've never done CLEP but I've tested out of stuff. I had like 24 hours of credit coming into my freshman year. Out of those... 6 applied to my major. Yay.

The Canadian system never has CLEP but I qualified for advanced placement credit in Freshman General Chemistry (took the AP chem exam in high school) though I decided to retake 1st year chem again just to boost my gpa. I also "clepped" 1st year biology in high school (though it was actually through transfer credit via concurrent studies at a local college while I was still in high school) which was a good thing because the 1st year bio courses at the university I'm currently in are a pain in the a$$ according to alot of my friends. Took 6 credit's worth of sophomore year biology courses (which I enjoyed alot more and were required courses for my program) instead during my freshman year.
