does that affect the type of shoes that you get? a woman in a shoe store said a friend of mine had 'good arches, but falling arches' ....and they are having some pain when running in one foot...so i wondered if the arches were part of the problem?
any ideas?

I'd say the woman in the shoe store is talking through her bum !!!
If your friend has a fallen arch or arches that's hardly GOOD.
More information:- Is the pain constant ? Does it get better or worse as the run continues ?
Fallen arches is a pretty general term, how about getting a proper assessment from someone qualified or at least someone who knows what they are talking about.
