Well, push ups can help you sprint faster the same way flying a plane can help you to become better diver. In other words, one thing has nothing to do with the other. Your legs are doing all of the work during sprinting. Push-ups can help you develop pecs, triceps and front delts. To have stronger legs you have to do squats with weights, leg extensions and leg curls.
