Posted: 06/07/04 - 15:52 Post subject: present ideas for parents anniv.
My parent's 20th wedding anniversary is coming up and I am at a loss for what to get them. I'd like it to be something nice, sentimental, spend some money on it, but not a ton.
Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions?????? Help!
Thanks!

If you get any let me know, my parents' 40th is in ~3 weeks
My dad bought us some time getting a job 5000 miles away for the summer though
I think the tentative plan as of now is to get them a weekend at a B&B somewhere scenic not far away, ie Texas Hill Country or somewhere on the coast.

Thanks, but since they are getting ready to leave for a trip to Paris to celebrate, a weekend away will be dull in comparison!
Actually, I'd like to get them more of something they could keep......I just don't know what?

I know, our B&B attempt (already maxing our price range) doesn't really top my dad bringing my mom over and them jaunting about Europe My sister is planning to drop a kid on the actual day (that is, she's 8 1/2 months preggers right now!). I'm hoping so, we're fresh out of any other ideas. we do give her props for timing though....

Well we've done the dog thing, and as for grandkid, we're working just as hard as we can! Plus, it will be grandkid #16 so it's not like it's anything that special anymore (just kidding, it still is!)!!!

Since I'm sure your parents have most of everything they need, how about a gift bag with:
Bottle of Champagne
Cookies
Pound of gourmet coffee
Gourmet tea Bags
"Chicken Soup for the Couple" book
Maybe a certificate for an overnight at a nice hotel in the area ?
Except for the hotel certificate that's what my mom and I gave this couple for their 50th...

How about a lovely silver platter with all of your names engraved on it--And if you don't have the money to purchase it I know a really "groovy" talent competition you could enter to win the money!

How about a hand drawing of their house. We are getting my dad a hand drawn picture of his house for Christmas this year. It is a unique gift with a personal touch. If they have a new house, then maybe a picture of the house they or you were born in.

are your Granparents alive still?
if so make a collage of pictures of each as a kid and growing up, and then one of them together, thier married years.

Well, I like to use the Periodic Table as a guideline. Element 20 is Calcium...so there's lots of possibilities there; sea shells, calcium tablets, a water softener, bone density screening, a dental check-up with fluoride treatments, something made of marble (hardened calcite), pearls...

A really nice collage of photos of their live together. Start with their wedding picture in the middle, then surround it with pictures with the beginning of their life (honeymoon, first couple years together) and then all the children and grandchildren. You can buy a cheap frame and customize it with paint, or have it framed nicely by a cheap frame place.
If you have the time, you can scan all the pictures in and then arrange them on the computer first before you actually paste them. Helps with mistakes.
