I was running in Midtown Atlanta last year with a lady and another guy when a squirrel managed to cause a transformer to pop just as we were passing by. I could feel the heat on my back and see the flash from my peripheal vision. I hit the ground because I wasn't sure if a gas line was exploding or what. The lady with me screamed to high heaven. I'm sure all the neighbors were well awake if they weren't before. We passed a Georgia Power truck heading to the scene about a mile 1/2 further down the road.
The squirrel was just flopping in the road beneath the transformer when we last saw him.
