I think it all depends on your area. I had nightmares with Cingular, but have loved AT&T (darn my luck). My brother has nothing but good things to say about Verizon. I've never heard a good thing about Sprint.

My nextel plan has free roaming and long distance, free nights and weekends, and 300 anytime minutes (I am not, by definition, a cellphone user; I have it for emergencies and to keep in touch with kids, hubby. Other than them, the schools & my dad are the only ones who have my number. I cannot even tell you my # without looking it up on the phone).
Maybe you should find your phone first. Do all phones work with all plans? I have no idea. Both of my providers had that deal where you got a phone for free or much less than what it would normally cost.
Good luck!

I've noticed that when one company comes up with a good offer, the others soon try to compete. I've been looking myself and noticed that several are offering free calls with other people using the same service...maybe Cingular started it? If you call a certain person a lot, that may be the way to go....

I've had nightmares with Sprint and At & T both. The Sprint would crap out in the middle of conference calls when I lived in Columbus, and ATT wasn't much better. Larry LOVED his Nextel phone. Even dropped in a bucket of chicken stock and it still worked. Only phone I've never seen drop a call. Others I know have had much luck with Verizon also. Good Luck!

Sprint PCS.
No roaming. Free long distance. Free PCS to PCS calling (included in some plans, extra $5 as an add-on to existing plans)...Sprint offers most of the other options mentioned.
I just changed out my phone (for free after rebate), I have the minimum plan and use on average 600 PCS to PCS minutes.
As long as you don't live in a rural area or travel in one too far off the beaten path, Sprint PCS will do you good.
Besides, Brian Baker (the guy in the black trench) is hotter than the Verizon guy.
You can guarantee with Sprint PCS you will never bring home a monkey with a cold (misheard on other phones bring home a movie, something old) and you won't flour your children (misheard on other phones as How're the children)
Yeah...I'm free AND clear, baby.

There's a magazine out called mobilepc that rates the phone plans and the type of coverage.
In looking at a plan consider there three things:
Area you live
What plan has the best "base" coverage area.
$$$$
Phone.
Here's the kicker............
Do you have a PC with bluetooth on not.
The best two plans on the market right now is Verizon & Cingular....
