The demographics where I work are about 75% black, 15% white, 10% hispanic. Early in my career here, one of the supervisors (a white guy) was asked what he was going as for Halloween.

He should have said "a ghost."

Instead he said "a spook."

Yes he did.

But some of the black wimmen who worked for him got even. They found out where he lived, and waited 'til they knew he was not at home, but his wife was. One of them put a pillow under her shirt and rang the door bell. When his wife opened the door, the woman sorted of cried and sniffed and asked, "(sniff) Is (his name) here? (sniff) I've got something (sniff) I have to tell him."

He came to work the next day with a lump on his head.

Spook has been used as a racist term for black people.

Oh, they are so cute! How precious.

Edited to add that I cannot believe the "pook" comment (my god, what goes through people's heads!).
Also to ad that I wish we got trick or treater's here. We don't. Although I know if I buy candy, they won't show up. If I don't they will. And throw coconuts or sapdillas at the house.

HH Those girls are precious!

Carrie Beth will be Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz in a dress that Grandma made just for her ("and it's very special to me, Mom").

I'll be Minnie Mouse in pants.

I was going to be Glinda the Good Witch, but I couldn't find an appropriate old prom dress cheap that I could alter and I was too lazy to make one and too cheap to buy one from the bridal shop.
