not to be admitted, but for school clinicals. I'm actually going today for hospital orientation (I imagine "the fire policy" "sharps go here" etc) and then I am supposed to meet the nurse who will basically be my faculty this semester. If he's on today, I will probably finish out his shift with him. I am in a special program where I will work one on one with a nurse all semester (as opposed to 10 students, 1 faculty descending upon some poor unsuspecting floor), which, sounds cool and like I could potentially gain a lot of knowledge from him...but I'm scared he'll be mean or resent having a student underfoot. I'm also scared of his unit (ICU, I'm told). Since I can't administer meds (or really do much of anything) this semester, I'll kind of be in his way. I see lots o' bed baths in my future.

In my experience, and I have extensive experience because I used to be married to a male nurse and I saw him in action many times:
Nursing is one of the few professions where they eat their young. Women, women, women. Blech. You are much better off with a male nurse as your mentor. Trust. me.

Actually, I have yet to meet my first gay male nurse. All the male nurses I have met have been in heterosexual relationships.
And a few have been H.O.T.
