Posted: 12/23/05 - 16:39 Post subject: obscure Christmas songs
seem to be played as we approach THE day. I just heard the Waitresses whatever its called "merry christmas! merry christmas! I couldn't miss this one this year" or whatever.
I've heard Carnie and Wendy Wilson's "Hey Santa" FOUR times this year.
Wham's "Last Christmas I gave you my heart, the very next day you gave it away..." yesterday
Elton's "step up to Christmas" or whatever just before the Waitresses
and actually favorites of mine, Stevie Wonder's "What Christmas means to me" and "Someday at Christmas"
What have you heard?

Wham! comes on the radio every time I listen to Christmas music in the car. I hate that song.
I'm happy to report I haven't heard Jingle Bells with the barking dogs yet.
I heard Nat King Cole's "O Come All Ye Faithful" this morning, which I hadn't heard all season.

If they could keep the "Little Dummer b@$tard" off the air I would be a happy camper.

I've heard the Elton John song a few times this year - first time in several years I have.

A request to those gainfully employed (or not) in the music business regarding a song. Not holiday-related, but it does pertain to this time of year:
STOP MAKING COVERS OF "BABY, IT'S COLD OUTSIDE." THAT SONG SUCKED THEN, IT SUCKS NOW, AND IT WILL ALWAYS SUCK.
Thank you.

Today I heard Jimi Hendrix version of Silent Night..... that kind of Christmas music I enjoy.
I also heard Mel Blanc doing his various voices (Fudd, Bugs, Porky, etc) singing a Blue Christmas. Funny, but once a year is enough.

I like all the ones I mentioned except the Wilson sister's. They are just obscure or non traditional.

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do
No crocodiles, no rhinoceroses
I only like hippopotamuses
And hippopotamuses like me too
