I had no idea you were affected by Erika Baker. That affects us as well.
I'll pray for you and all the family there.... sometimes life just sux. |
I taught Erika's brother, Greg...had him in two classes. I was awakened to news that a Baker child was missing after walking her dog one dreary Sunday morning at the rec center next to my school. It was a nightmare for days as the helicopters flew over...the pond was drained next to my school...and we had to face Gregory a week later in tears. Talk about stress. I was pregnant and it was almost too much to handle as my due date approached.
They're just learning of Erika's fate now...7 years later. Oh the horror. It went on for weeks and weeks.
Greg was a wonderful child, and his brother Logan. Their lives were changed forever when their sister disappeared.

I'm in Kettering almost weekly.... have many, many friends there. IT is a favorite spot of the hashers. My brother used to be assigned at St. Albert the Great, when he was in the Seminary (during the time this all happened)
I feel for ya girl.
Hang in there.

Sorry you have to go through this Noley. Those students will get comfort from you though in simply being able to sense you care in whatever avenue you chooose to console them.
I guess I'm not one of those "I'll never understand" people because of my faith and how it explains good and evil in this world. There's nothing wrong in any of us for not 'understanding'.. take it as a good thing, because understanding such evil things is the real tragedy.

How awful. I've seen stuff like that too many times in my field, or at least the events leading up to it. It really is sad when parents are so sick themselves that they can't keep from injuring their children. Prayers for you and all the kids, Noley.....my best advice to you is just be honest with them. Be yourself when dealing with them, your caring shines through in everything you do. They'll appreciate that more than anything. Is the school bringing in extra counselors or anything, to help the kids deal?
