I've thought about this for awhile. The past 2 years I've set the same goal, run 1000 miles for the year. Failed both years due to injuries and I was hugely disappionted. I'd love to run my first marathon this year. We shall see.

I haven't thought about this other than the "goal races" I have set.
I was pleasantly surprised to see I ran over 1000 miles in 2005.
One goal for 2006 would be to build my weekly mileage to a steady 40 MPW without sacrificing personal/professional time. I was well on my way in 2005, although most of it seemed like a struggle.
Maybe I can work on getting up earlier in the am and getting runs in. This wasn't too hard in the summer of 05, although the weather was the main incentive then.

I would like to break 2000 miles for a year but the summertime heat really makes it hard on me to get 40 a week. I guess I could run at midnight or something when it cools off some??

In 2006, I want to be consistent with the speed work. I just moved across the street from a track, so no excuses this year. Also add some more strength training. Oh yeah, and maybe this year sub 4 hour marathon...

My goal is simple.
Become a runner again.
The last two years I haven't been a runner. Just someone who runs on occasion.
I couldn't follow a training plan for two weeks.
That is over. I'm running again.

i don't think i want to gain much more, but i know that my legs need more muscle.
this year i also hope to partake in the half marathon (if i can get my training together), otherwise i'll be running in as many road races as i can. at the very least i would like to run a 10k this year.
5k goal - 19 minutes before the end of season
10k goal - just to run one... and then go from there. 50 minutes completed
Half Marathon - to finish. DONE
(sorry don't have much to work with in terms of time projections for the longer distances i haven't run before) |
so, looks like i've got my 5k still to do. how are you doing?

Despite some noticeable improvement, all of my performance goals have not been met... .. except for January's mileage goal
I have another 10k coming up on the 23rd...if I can cut my time some more by another minute or so, I'll reach one of my goals.
I sometimes wish I was a newbie again where improvements happen so quickly and readily...
