futerarmygirl,
First off.. congrats on taking the necessary steps to living your dream of serving the USA. Running is very challenging, but probably the most rewarding in improving your fitness levels.
The first key is being consistent with your training. Make sure you build up endurance before anything else by doing longer, slow paced runs. If you want to improve on your speed. add one day of hill training to your runs to start and some interval training(short distances with a faster pace of running)
Also, take some energy supplements along with your runs to maintain endurence.(energy gels, running specific sports drinks, energy bars) Also try to cut off foods that have no nutritional value.
I hope this information helps, good luck!!
