After church this morning, my daughter asked me to take her to the local deep, deep discount store (Grabriel's, for those of you in on the shopping secret here in PA) I didn't question too much, until afterward, but it turns out that she needed a camisole to wear under a "bolero" jacket for the Valentine's dance this week. Now, I understand that her shoulders will be covered, her belly button won't be showing, and she has never chosen anything in poor taste. She certainly wouldn't even consider the Porn Queen dress from the other thread. BUT this dad still felt buying such a skimpy top, knowing that she'd be wearing it to the dance. So Dads, do you ever buy clothing for you daughters, eventhough you'd rather that they wear something that covers them from head to toe?

I pay, they shop
Mine isn't old enough yet to want those type of clothes, but I suspect my wife will have the final say on what she wears, with my 2¢ beforehand

Mine are not old enough, but I would not take them clothes shopping. I would be like Greg, I pay mom shops.

I would never have dreamed of buying clothing my parents didn't approve of.
My dad was far more lenient than mom, though.

My dad didn't ever shop with me, and I think in our situation (my dad is sort of a combo of Archie Bunker and Ray's dad on Raymond) that his absence in our mall trips was a good thing for all involved. However, good for you for playing such an active part in her life, it means a lot to her I'm sure.

a lot of "my part" was opening my wallet. although, at this particular store, this amounted to $5 for this one piece of clothing. I did get to state my opinion on the "shiny" one or the one with lace. she went with the lace-trimmed one.

Well, right now its only the $$ maybe, but its one of those things that in a few years she'll remember you were there. Again, my dad never went with me to help pick a dance outfit...
