I probably wouldn't serve the alcohol. Mainly because most of my parties don't have alcohol but secondly out of respect for what he is going through. I mean no disrespect when I say this but alcoholism is an addiction, diabetes is not.

From time to time when we do have parties that we intend to invite a certain recovering alcoholic friend of ours we immediately resort to no alcohol for that party. If we find out he isn't coming and we want to open up a few bottles of wine then we will.

My parties don't need no alcohol...they are crazy enough as it is! Smile
