when we looked at the house we are moving into....the guy who owned it mentioned there were hardwood floors under the carpet in the entry and dining room...and that he thought about redoing it.
Well, close on the house today, and move in on Saturday. My wife plans on starting work on the floors today....taking off work tomorrow to work on them and having them finished by Friday.
From what I can gather, this is what is on her mind lately.
"Hardwood floors. Hardwood floors. Hardwood floors. Hardwood floors. Hardwood floors. Call someone about hardwood floors. Hardwood floors Hardwood floors. Hardwood floors."
To be honest, she's only taking of the glue that was left from the carpet, and has a guy hired to do the sanding and varnishing (Wednesday and Thursday evenings)

they are. We already have a key to the house, and pulled up some carpet last night.
It's all good. And she'll get what she wants. And I'll get a happy Mrs. Coach.

Best to have them done now when there's no furniture in there. I wish I would've done them when we first moved in. Now I keep putting it off because I'd have to move all the furniture and move out to gain shower access, since the hardwood extends up the stairs into my bedroom.

Get the ice packs ready for the kiddos Coach. Hardwood is pretty to look at, but for kids on the move, it's a knee/elbow/noggin thumper... unless your kids are more coordinated than mine

we've had hardwood floors in every house so far and they do tend to show wear and tear. even our cats scratch up our floor when they are rockin' thru the house
however, i did the most damage when i yanked out the refrigerator one fine day and put a niiiiiice, loooooong, thick gash in our kitchen floor. that was a long afternoon.
actually, he wasn't that bad with it.
so, i've learned to love the worn wood look. so homey.

I'm so jealous! I'd love hardwoods, but what is underneath our carpet is a concrete slab. urg! Someday I will have the floors of my dreams!
Cannot wait to see how it turns out! (ie we'll need pics!)

When my Ex and I pulled the carpet up in the family room of the house that he bought, we found some lovely pumpkin pine barn boards.

My floor IS a concrete slab.
Stained concrete... it's not the most attractive but it's easy to clean and you have no worries of damaging it. Perfect for a college home. But I do plan on putting carpet in my bedroom this fall.

They are cleaner, but they defintely don't give that impression. Dust bunnies roam the wooden plains and you have to sweep/dustmop all the time otherwise it will just feel dirty. Carpets can hold a lot of dirt before they feel dirty.
