They are cleaner, but they defintely don't give that impression. Dust bunnies roam the wooden plains and you have to sweep/dustmop all the time otherwise it will just feel dirty. Carpets can hold a lot of dirt before they feel dirty. |
Exactly my problem with carpet, the lurking dirt You have to clean wood floors a lot but they are actually clean. Do you think running a vacuum across your carpet (well, if you had any) gets it clean? I think the dust mite population of my living room would tell you no.

We just moved into a brand new house recently (few months back) and that train of thought was driven by my wife as well. I managed to derail it for a while though, using the above advice. Looks great but can damage easily and with young kids (I have 2 and another on the way as well as big dog) you might find it can be frustrating. We decided to keep the builders carpet until the kids wear it out, then we'll get hardwood.
