The Three Stooges had this problem in a movie once*. They baked a cake and it came out of the oven flat. They filled it up with gas from the stove**.
Just a suggestion.
* As opposed to real life
** The fact the cake exploded is beside the point.

A good culinary distraction:
Use them to make mini ice cream sandwiches. Roll the sides in mini chocolate chips and freeze.
Flat ones make better ice cream sandwiches anyway.

You know, for years I was plagued by the desire to make my choc chhip cookies just like Spunky Foodmeister's or whatever they are called... Watching food channel and one day they do a story about Spunky Foodmeister's cookies - the secret ? bake at 280 for 20 minutes. They come out soft and gooey and perfect.
So now I bake my frozen, cut and bake cookies at 280 for 18 minutes in the toaster oven. El perfecto !!!

my caramels didn't turn out I "knew" I shouldn't have waited for the candy thermometer to read 240......I just knew that they were "done" 5 minutes earlier.
the taste test period was worth it though ......brings back lots of memories of my sisters and I with our glass of water. "mom, is it time to test yet?"

I got a recipe from my mom last week for peanut butter sugar cookies. I used to "help" her make them as a kid, then decorate them afterwards. I am proud to say, I made them, and they taste almost the same. I ran out of confectionary sugar though, so no frosting...

All cookies are flat. If they're not it's a cupcake!!
If it doesn't come cut into squares already I don't bake it. The other day Nichole said I made pretty good cookies even tho I don't make them right.
This is where I'd like to tell "Grandma Miss Bakes Alot" to work a full time job, provide 3 meals a day to her family, do laundry, clean the house run a few miles and then see how much time is left for mixing cookie batter. MIX THAT BATTER!! But I'm not bitter or anything.

Maybe you just need to work on your time management skills...
