Posted: 06/09/04 - 08:55 Post subject: my birthday 5 k time trial report
Every year around my birthday and again on new years day I run a 5 k time trial to judge my fitness, I run on the same track just to keep it consittent.
my last two times were 2320 and 2327
this year was 2345
I wanted a 2330 or below and would have loved at <23:00
but not this time.
NO biggie at all. I am encourgaged that I am staying relatively close in my times
My splits were
726
737
758
44
max hr (for you Hayes) 151- It shows I had some reserve left.
It was nice this year using my timex watch because I set on the pace function which let me know how my pace was doing.
I have not done an interval run in a while so that could be why, but overall I am very please with my pace.
This old man aint so old yet

You haven't even hit your peak yet speed-wise.... I'm living proof that the older and creakier you get the faster you get... at least I was living proof of that until this year.

Nice Job. I have never tried a 5K on a track. I think that would be tough to concentrate as you go round and round and round and round and round and round and round and round and round and round and round and round and half way around!

Max HR of 151, Sandbagger
That is a good idea to have a fitness test on your b-day. Way to stay consistant.
