Posted: 01/23/03 - 11:06 Post subject: mp3 download sites? Kazaa?
I was looking for one to get some music and read Kazaa was good. But when I read about it on cnet.com the reviews had a lot of bad ones about how it uses "spyware" and is a "gator"--not sure what these mean, but it sounds like there are lots of pop ups and people said they lost control of their computer. Does anyone use this software? Is it really bad?
Any other recs for a good place to get mp3 files?
Thanks for any help!!

Kazaa is OK, it gives you the option to opt-out of most of the extra junk it installs. I really don't care if they watch what sites I go to anyway, I don't have anything to hide.
Kazaa is pretty easy to use too. Very mainstream, user-friendly interface. Tons of people use it too so that ups your chance of getting the songs you're looking for.

Do you have to pay to use Kazaa? I went there a while back and seem to remember that you had to sign up and pay a fee to download from there? Did I miss something someplace??

PH knows what you are doing on the computer and he'll let you know when he needs to take over.

Check into "Diet Kazaa", it's what M has installed on my machine. I'm not sure what is different, but when I told him I hear Kazaa uses Spyware he said, "That's why DIET Kazaa is on your machine". Oh! Duh!!
