i have never tried this 5K even though they've been doing it for over 15 years and it's only 40 minutes away. it's a basic flat course around a mall, you know those roads that loop around every mall? it was 2.5 laps around this loopy road.

heat and humidity were really a factor today, it was full sun and steamy at the 9AM start. i ran the whole thing like this: i really felt the heat today and those mall speedbumps in a race course suck. the squinting got old after the first mile and i ran behind some woman with a visor. i wanted that visor like i wanted a cold shower. give me that visor woman. Mad

i got a 5K PR of 23:17, a slight improvement over last weekends race and since they gave out 5 overall awards, i got a first in my age group.

when i got home, my daughter had a new nike running visor waiting for me. she'd gone shopping with her dad while i was out and she saw it and bought it for me. HOW COINCIDENTAL Shocked i shall wear my dri-fit visor next sunny race. Mr. Green

You got the good hardware. You can send those bottle caps back to Jacked now.

Very proud of you, Rock! Congratulations on both accomplishments! Very Happy

The Monroeville Mall!! I've been there!! Did you know that's where the original Dawn of the Dead movie was filmed?

Good going on the race this morning. The weather sucked today.

Congrats on the First Place!!! And that's so weird about the visor. Wink

Phar told me that the best way to train for a 5K is to keep running them on weekends....nothing will bring your time down more effectively. i really can't duplicate that speedwork on my own so yeah, the more you race the better you race.

thanks phar!

Now I think I've heard of every kind of route possible...around the mall?! Wowza. Prolly wasn't very scenic Surprised Big kudos on a new PR! And bringing home the hardware. That laundry room shrine is going to need more shelves! Cool
