Don't! The older Libby gets, the more we can talk about, and the closer we get. It's very cool. It is neat watching her become a young woman. If she'd just lose the mouth, we'd be all set. well, an apple never falls from a pear tree... the girl does get it honestly Wink

One helpful hint: Either don't read Where Did I Come From? to explain the birds and the bees, or don't giggle like a schoolgirl when you're reading it. Embarassed I couldn't help it. The pictures made me giggle, esp. the spermies... too dang funny for this mom.

Don't. I'm not a mom, but I can tell you that it's got to be nicer to hear about it from an adult parental figure than your friends. In a calming, normal way, with answers to questions that could be difficult. Trust me on this.

alot of the anatomy stuff is covered by our school district, starting in 5th grade -- this year. however, she has been asking pointed questions for years about her own body and how it relates to the feminine hygiene aisle at the grocery store that i have answered along the way.

however, the sex talk has not happened with her yet. i may get a good book in her hands first because i know this subject is ever so close to surfacing here. the "girls" are already talking at school and i can only imagine what tales are being told. Shocked

Thanks all. Goette Une is 8 so I'm pretty sure she's down with poop. I'm referring to the "your body is going to change soon and here's how and here's why" chat.

I'll check out the recommendations and thanks again.

Of course, there's always "Are You There God, It's Me, Margaret" (or similar title) by Judy Blume, doesn't she talk about periods in that one?

That's the first one I thought of. There's another one in one of Cappy's links that we had at the hospital where I used to work that was good...the Growing Up, It's A Girl Thing one (look under the "people who ordered this book also ordered" section).
