My in-laws are part of a "senior" travel group. I asked them if people of any age could go and they said that there's a premium added to the cost of the trip if you're under 55.
Is that legal?
Could I start a 40something travel group and charge seniors extra?

Perhaps they aren't discriminating against young people. Maybe they set a standard rate, offer a sr. citizen's discount, then market primarily to srs.

It always seems to work that way. There seem to be lots of discriminating clubs/ groups, etc. that work that way, but get away with it.... it always seems to be the stuff that I don't qualify for. But, if ever I wanted to do something like that... no way no how.... it would be wrong. oh well, who wants to go on a trip with a bunch of old peeps, anyway.

my guess is that the travel group doesn't get a discount because they are sr. it's because they are a group.
the question would be, if you take a group of srs. whitewater rafting would they get a discount for being a group, and an additional discount for being old?

Pricing is one of the last frontiers where discrimination is a-okay.
Think about car sales.. is there any logical reason that two people should pay any different price for exactly the same car? It's insane.
State attorney generals are suppose to be the watchdogs of these kinds of things. They are teh suck.

Because some people are better bargainers than others.
