I was shocked when I saw a map of New Orleans and saw just how far below sea level most of the city is. Isn't it one of the oldest cities in the US? How did this not happen before?

matt was going to go back to NO with me in october. the casino wont (or isnt planning on) reopening untill sept 30. i seriously doubt it will even be that soon. harrahs is on the river.

How it could be worse, it is hard to believe, but it could have been far, far worse.

I agree. It could have been a direct hit and it could have stayed stronger, longer. Bigger waves. More levees bursting.
It's a nasty, horrible thing, but it could have been far worse. That's kind of scary.

At least it didn't end up like the tsunami disaster last Christmas...it could have been alot worse if people weren't warned ahead of time
