If your serious about improving your running, thats the best move you'll ever make. Just make sure you get a good one (qualified) I'm amazed reading Running Forums and the like, how many dedicated runners remain un-coached.

where did you find your coach?
I just had a form analysis done by one here in NYC, but that session (1 hour) was $175.

$175 !!! Your pulling my leg!!!
If that's the case, I'm booking a ticket and coming over
Seriously, don't you have a club system with appointed coaches?
Not all of our club coaches here charge and if the do it is only to cover petrol money (say $3-5 per training session) after all we are putting back into the sport.
For something different, I had an ex-olympian take my group training -
cost ZIP.

There are club coaches, but there are so many people in the club it's hard to get personal attention from a coach (especially people like me who are slower & don't really stand out from the crowd, but would probably benefit greatly from some personal coaching). Maybe I should move to Australia

teehee. i think alan is the only one to catch on here...
actually... i'm not really getting a coach.
but i *did* have a coach. for about a year and a half. former olympian and all that. but she was a little, how shall we say, odd.
we have a big club here in winnipeg that is basically the creme de la creme of the runners. and if i remember right it's only like $100 to join, and you just have to cover your expenses for the facility. the races are all free.
at any rate, my group was about 15 kids at it's largest. but we definately got the individual attention. i benefited a *lot* from it. but who wouldn't benefit from 4 days of 60-90 minute sessions of intense training? lol.
