The fact you're saying that at your age and not having that revelation when you're 40 is a very good thing.

No freekin' kidding.

That he is single and has extra money to save is a great thing.

Being broke, married right out of college and having a baby on the way is a difficult way to start life financially solvent.

well it's all gonna change in a hurry (ps. i *am* going to get married to my g/f Wink so i do have to save for that)

i'm just going to try to tuck away a few grand before the bills come pooring in, and then do what i can to sock away a little bit at a time.

the time/value charts i was looking at - the difference between starting at 20 vs. 27 is damning.... if you put 3K away a year for 7 years starting at 20, you'd have more then if you put away 3K a year for the next 40 years starting at 27 Shocked

it was a swift kick in the nutz.

my girlfriend thinks i'm nuts worrying about retirement before a wedding...

i said unless we're not getting married for 40 years i don't really think anything other then saving lots of money is going to help us there... whereas if we can spare a bit for the long term - we'll be waaaaay better off.

pending death and all that other fun stuff. economy crash. y'know.

It's never too early to worry about retirement. The fact that you are blessed with the ability to do something about it now is awesome. Jump on that like a rat on a cheeto, man.
