i finally got my Sidney Crosby rookie, in a pack from a 'blaster box' at a drugstore.
it's worth around $125-175 (depending on what fool is buying). i'm quite happy. i didn't think i was gonna get it and pretty called it quits on the set.
yay. i raised my arms in celebration and cheered with the rest of my puzzled family sitting in the living room.
(and if you don't know what i'm talking about, just be excited that i got something for $150 out of a $25 box of cards and ignore how much i spent on packs/box before i got this one...)

Ah, yes, Sidney...who can forget the talented Mr. Crosby?

Precisely! And only if you're willing to sell it. It sounds like there's quite an attachment to it and would you, could you, part with it?

lots of people are buying... i'm not interested in selling. mostly because it's taken a fair bit of effort to get it, and i wouldn't likely see one again unless i paid the 125+ for it.
now if i get a second one, or one from a different set, i'd sell that. in a heartbeat. or if i got one of the ones that were like 250+, i have no need for something worth that. i'd sell it and buy the cheaper one.
i'm just happy to have it right now. even if the value plummets.

A true collector...good for you.
But, is there no price that could get you to part with it?

well if said price was high enough and i could buy another for like $100? sure.
if it was worth a few hundred, and there was a cheaper alternative.. i'd probably sell. but if it was like $300, like the thornton rookie, i might still hang on to it anyway.
if the "cool" factor wasn't there, it'd be sold (like a $70 auto'd card i pulled, only 15 of 'em, but i didn't like the player, so i sold it that afternoon)
i collect - but i'm not an idiot. a $1000 piece of cardboard isn't doing *me* any good sitting in my collection. i have more moderate tastes thanks
