Tanning beds are the spawn of Satan himself. Be afraid, be very afraid and stay far away from them!!!!!!!

I went to a tanning bed a few times before I went on vacation. I really had to; early spring offers no sun in MA and where I was going (Dominican Republic) has a blast furnace for a sun.
Too expensive to lay down in front of a few fluorescent lights, but they are relaxing and you feel pretty good after. I'm all set with them, but I understand the appeal.

Normally I'm against any color but mayonnaise, but even this year I've been laying in the pool catching rays. You know it's really really bad for you (just as I do), so I won't get too Mommish on you. I'd only caution the both of us about letting it become a habit.
I just loves ya, Froggie!!! Be careful!

My parents went to the Dominican Republic for their Spring Break as well! They went to the tanning beds a few times as well so that they didn't look like a lobster when they went down there.

We have 1 tanning bed at the gym. It runs from 5:30 in the morning till 9:00 at night with barely time in between to clean it. We are putting in another this summer. I tan 1 or 2 times a week it is very relaxing. Sometimes it's the only 20 min. a day I get piece and quiet.
Also, Designer Skin has a tanning lotion that has a SPF 4. Suppose to allow you to tan but block much of the harmful rays. I use it sometimes.

I get tan when I get enough freckles that they run together...
Ok but seriously folks. If I slather on the SPF 45 and go to the beach, I can get tan. Kinda. Kindatan.
Always figured a tanning bed wouldn't do me any good...
Couldn't help but think of the Seinfeld episode where Kramar falls asleep in the tanning bed before going to meet his new g/f's family...

Libby/12and Will/7 both have some color already, and we use spf 50 very faithfully now. Of course, they both burned early this year, so that's probably part of it. This is really the first year in a long while that I've been able to get and keep some color. I'm liking it. I'm so white that people will ask me if I am sick. TRULY. I always responded with "No, I'm just uber-caucasian." LOL.

Mrs. H is the same way too (and she's a red head). I'm not very tan at all right now, but next to her, I look really dark.

yeah, i know its bad...mostly i dont want to look like a piece of leather when im 30...
but the main reason im going is so i dont completely fry when im in belize. that, and the whole bikini/pastey white belly is just not as attractive as id hoped! and i know i can still tan even with sunscreen. when i spent 3 weeks in the desert hiking, i wore SPF 50 everyday and was tanner than id ever been in my life. so i can only imagine what spending a week in the equatorial sun will do to me...
