AND i came home with it too! 
i went back to the place to try it on one more time to make sure that that was the one i wanted. turns out, it was on sale; 30% off if you bought the sample as is off the rack. i had thought there would have been an issue with the front of the dress and alterations, but the girl helping me said it wouldnt be a problem. and she managed to get it zipped up most of the way (i guess i lost some weight since the last time i went in). i only had a gap of about two inches, which is about two sizes, so as soon as i get my weight down where it needs to be, ill be good to go!
and just for fun, here are more pics, this time of the dress hanging on my closet door!

It is beautiful. But there is a reptile of some sort near your light switch.
