40 degrees is tropical indeed! Near perfect running weather (perfect is about 50).
WUSS!

Cheryl - if it makes you feel any better I am a wuss about hot weather. If it is over about 80 I won't run (I wait until late at night when it's cooled down).
And I can understand because just a few months ago I would have said 35-40 is arctic weather... but it's NOT! IT'S POSITIVELY BALMY! AND I AM RATHER JEALOUS!
I would do it, just for the adventure. And I would wear tights and long sleeves under a windbreaker. They don't breathe, so it will keep you warm as well as dry. A hat will keep you warm and keep the water off your head, too.
Have fun!

sorry, but running in the cold rain is the pits. 25 and dry is better than 40 and raining. cold rain bites. i'd pass if it's raining.
warm rain is another story.

Even though I love to run in the rain, warm or cold, I would never call someone who ran a marathon a wussette.

Okay then all you hardcore people, is there such a thing as too hot for you to run? (maybe I can throw some 'wusses' the other direction now) |
I haven't hit a to hot day yet. I might back down the mileage or run in the morning but I still get out every day.
The only that has stopped me so far is lightning!!!

How is it that Houston isn't getting the huge snow storm we're looking forward to? (I'll be looking forward to it from Hilton Head)

If you've registered, go. Since you planned it, go. Wear a plastic bag until the start to stay a little dry then rip it off. I don't notice the cold until I stop, then I hits my lungs first. My body doesn't realize how cold it is until I hit the warm shower (like today)! !

I wouldn't run in that kind of weather if you paid me. However, I'd have no problem in the 80+ stuff down here. Wussiness has varying degrees.
