Posted: 12/07/02 - 18:55 Post subject: how is this for a reason to run!!!
when i go on the treadmill
now abby likes to go downstairs with me
she does not want to be in the play pen but likes to crawl around our large basement
when ever we make eye contact she smiles and claps her hands at me
it just keeps me going
she was doing that while sitting next to robin as she was exercising too
it is a great source of strength
if you say yeah abby she starts to clap
man she is encouraging

in psychological terms, this is known as operant conditioning: remember Pavlov's experiments with the dogs? He would ring a bell then give them food and that would make the dogs salivate. Soon he was able to get the dogs to salivate by ringing the bell and not giving them the food, the bell became the stimulous for the desired response.
Abby has got you guys trained very well
soon she'll clap her hands and you will start exercising!

She is such a little fighter, Joe. I get choked up whenever I think about her. Someday she'll be out there running with you. Just you wait.

Big 1 on that
i called home friday after the performance to let my wife know that I was going out. Sterling (14yo) answered so I gave him the message. He said "You're not going to do something stupid and then DRIVE home, are YOU?" No, I'm not. and thank you for reminding me (guess that means he cares)
