Posted: 02/10/06 - 14:36 Post subject: how am i not qualified to work in a bread warehouse?
i got shot down at from my interview on monday. i even had to call to find out. the lady said she has hired someone else, and kept my resume just in case because "sometimes people don't work out".
so if i'm good enough as a backup, why couldn't i get it in the first place?
that's pretty bogus. the job isn't that complicated, you move bread from one end of the warehouse to the other. - so unless i'm getting snubbed because i've never done it before and other people have... i can't figure it out. especially when she said all she really had to do was check my references...
bah. this is lame. pardon the rant.

it wasn't mentioned (and she mentioned a lot of other info about vac pay etc).... so i don't really think so.
ps. next time i'm going to try not to be a b*tch and ask if there was any particular reason why i wasn't right for the job.

Blue-if you're courageous enough to ask why you weren't the candidate of choice, I'd say do it. You'll learn something valuable.
*Also remember: people hiring sometimes have agendas: they want someone who will do the job but not outshine them.

My last boss was like that. It wasn't about getting the job done for the company, it was hiring someone competent enough to do all of her work (the boss's) without actually outshining her at the same time.

i didn't even get a forktruck.... i got a wheelie lift type deal (two wheels and a spot to put stuff - then you push/pull it around).
maybe it was my lack of technical jargon.

was your clothing starched?
Did your opening joke come off stale?
Did you make a "mountain" of loaves, and then do a "swan dive" from the rafters?
I'm outta ideas.
