I have some really unbelievably hardheaded co-workers who I joined in taking the new guy out to lunch. Big mistake. I really should have eaten at my desk.

The first topic of discussion (brought up by my oh-so-tactless co-workers)? the Episcopal decision on the bishop yesterday. Shocked Um, religion? politics? geez o pete, we don't even know this guy's last name and we're jumping into this discussion??? CHECK PLEASE!

Thats a discussion I don't think is appropriate for co-workers anyway, much less with this brand new guy....

I give him another couple weeks....that or he's here for life.

You know, he amazingly and very intelligently played Mr. Switzerland. He played it as best as he could, not committing to anything or incriminating himself or insulting others. thumbs up to him.

So either, he's seen the worst of this crowd (and it did get bad there for a bit) and can deal with it and will be here for life, or, he realizes this place is way beneath him and is going to get a job where your brain is required as soon as he can find another one

I think the betting windows around my dept just opened.

I would sit right next to him and right before everyone ordered, I would point out how the type of food being served gives me severe gas.

"Woo boy! Italian goes right through me.

<to the waiter>Yeah, I'll have the double meat lasagna please. </to the waiter>

So tell me more about your previous job."

cool because I would've made a call to the 7th and 8th district to disregard any loud yelling from your address. Mr. Green

No, dude. I win that argument. All who do not agree will be asked to leave promptly - no crazies allowed.
