attn all you google types.
This is a tough one.
Some people I run with occasionally have what I am starting to believe is a miracle booster for long runs. And everytime I'm told where they got them, I'm running and then forget. They are pumpkin seeds soaked in brine or something salty, they are very salty, I mean SALT - EE but when you're 3/4 through your long run in July, its a great pick me up (replenish the ole electrolytes I guess?) to suck on the pumpkin seed for as long as you can handle it then we spit them out. Here's my thing, I think they are animal feed maybe? Because no human in their right mind would eat these because they tasted good and 2) I know the woman who was giving them out said something about only being able to get them in 5lb packages or larger, on the internet. I have 3 people (who also can remember nothing about where to get them) willing to split a package with me if I can find them. Thats all the info I have. I can wait and ask some peeps I run with next weekend and try to remember after, or I can send you google types on a hunt. I choose you. annnndddd..... go!

So you're not just talking about the kind you get at the store in a litte plastic package that are covered in salt, right?

I've never bought those, so I'm not entirely sure, but these are unbelievably salty so I can't imagine people are purposefully buying these to eat. They taste nothing like when I roast pumpkin seeds. About 20X saltier, and less flavor. Plus, I'm told they only come in 5lbs or larger quantities.

my ankles swell just looking at these things...they are fairly salty. i've seen them at Dick's, alongside the GU.
at least try these before buying the "animal feed" kind. makes me wonder how safe they are to be eaten..you know, animal feed and stuff.

thats a good idea. Ankle swelling quantities is what we want. I agree on the animal feed thing, that was my speculation, i have no idea if they are. And that might be it too Jrjo...I'm going to consult with the others before purchasing.

There was a nut shop called "Buddy Squirrel's" that was next top the indoor ice rink where I took lessons and practiced as a kid. They carried these, and they were incredibly salty. I used to crave them after skating, probably for the same reason you crave them while running.

Those are good! But I'm giggling at the "animal feed" reference.
