Posted: 09/18/02 - 08:16 Post subject: heart rate question
i notice that my early morning runs my heartrate is staying very low
av. this morning was only 127
i have noticed that most of my early (0430) runs i have trouble getting my heart rate up.
not that this is bad, my pace is steady and even up a nice hill it only went up to 137
i usually average around low 140's and on hills high 150's
anyone have any insight

I think it is the cooler weather. Mine can be 10-20 BPM less now then in the soup we were running in in August.

I usually don't see a significant drop in my HR until the temps get down into the 50's.

Hmmm. I didn't realize heart rate would necessarily be lower with colder temps. Think I'll strap on my monitor tomorrow (high is to be about 40, I think) and see where I am. I haven't run with it for a few weeks.
