looking at the reports and from my experience it seems the flu is down this year?

is it due to the fact that maybe it is a less hardy strain, or is it due to the fact that we are more conscious of how to prevent it. i know we have lots of signage around on how to prevent catching the flu posted around the buildings.

i am aware i wash my hands more often than i normally do.

Hand sanitizer - supposedly kills 99.99% of most common germs that may cause illness.

Use it early and often.
We have it in both cars, the kids have it in their school back packs and just in case, we have in in our kitchen. It's the first thing we do after being at a store, in church, at school etc.

ancedotal data (small sample size) - it seems to work in preventing illness.

Is it too early to tell yet? I thought most cases would happen in December and January, which is why we'd have to get the vaccine early so we'll be vaccinated before flu season starts.

normally there are sporadic outbreaks already in most states. it is early in the season but the "signs" of how the season will be are normally present by now. a lot of states have yet to report any activity at all.

Wash hands a lot and stay out of crowded places. Also if an elevator button is oozing with someone else's bodily viscosity on it, go to the next floor up and walk down.

We've had temps 10-20 degrees above normal through November so far. Still lots of outdoor time being put in by a lot of people. It's the indoor imprisonment by the unadventurous that spread it often.

I haven't gotten a flu shot or the flu in over twenty years. Just stay clean, eat healthy, take your vitamins, drink plenty of water and be aware of your surroundings.

Our infection control nurse is really on the ball, as she was last year, posting signs about wearing masks if you thought you were sick...and not visiting patients at all in the hospital if you were sick, with anything!
It seems like a little bit more info seeps into the common denominator each year...hand washing, hand sanitizier, masks, don't visit sick people in nursing homes/hospital if you are also sick...
