Present and or accounted for! Thanks for the concern.

Where I live is just outside the hurricane warnings. Although they have cancelled schools for tomorrow.

I got a voice mail from her yesterday, she didn't mention evacuating so I am assuming they are OK. I have to call her tonight anyhow so if she doesn't post today I will let you guys know.

Genie, you need to remind her of the "mandatory" Keys evacuation. I know last time the restaurant and her job wouldn't shut down despite the evacuation notice. There's a reason they're mandatory evacuations, it's to help shine a light into their dumba$$ bosses' eyes.

HI! Present and also accounted for...the idiot wouldn't close the restaurant until it was too late to leave, despite the fact that they had two customers all day, he was endangering the safety of others.

He almost wouldn't let me leave the resort because my boss was stranded in Miami. I had taken care of all of the computers, back up, money and the safe, and informed him of that. Despite the fact that I am again on crutches, he said "But I need a manager here."

I said, Why?"

Becaue my house is at sea level, and there is a hurricane coming.

ANd I can help with this HOW? I'm more of a liability than an asset at this point. I can't do anything for you because I can't carry anything around and 've made sure all of our data is backed up, including in one remote location in Orlando. The computers are in the loft/shelter, and you have $9,000 in cash if you need to leave. I'm going home..

But what if I need to get into the safe.

It's your safe, you should know. Or debbie will know, or, YOU can CALL me. On the telephone.

I don't think he is used to being spoken to in that fashion, so I may or may not have a job come Thursday. Or else he'll have more respect for me, since everyone else cowers and runs around figuratively trying to wipe his ass.

We're safe, boarded up, got food, ice, water, champagne, beer, iced tea, gatorade, plenty of batteries and candles, dog food, and have a friend who lives in a mobile home staying with us on the couch. If it looks live we will get a storm surge, we can go to the shelter/loft, which is 16 ft above sea level with one foot thick concrete walls, a generator, food, water, ice, computers, an Imax theatre (rolleyes) and enough liquor to start a bar. And the dog can come too.

So. we're here, and safe for now. Just staying inside and keeping updated on the weather. The major storm surges will hit mile marker 70 on down to Key West. We're between 13 and 80 miles north of that.

THanks for checking!!

Sheldon, I'm glad you and Lucy are fine! Stay safe!

I hope N'Alwlins doesn't get hit again. Or Texas. Or anywhere. Sad

Genie, I am looking forward to hearing from you. I found my cell phone, so in case the power goes, you can call that #.

Kristin, I will call you after 9 tonight, I am waiting to hear from my dad as to what the doc wants to do with my mother. Judging from how her weekend went, I suspect they are going to admit her and if they do, I don't know that I'd feel right about being so far away from home in case something happens. Sad This is why I hate making plans in advance....sigh....they should be at the doc's at 2 so I should know something by the time I leave work. I am supposed to be at my internship tonight so I will call on my way home.

In the meantime, stay safe and dry!!

Why does this strike me as a possible scenario for lots of peeps in Louisiana who really needed jobs--but felt too threatened to leave???

Well, WOW!

We walked (sorta) outside. genie, you know how close we are to the ocean. They have a good three - four feet of water up to our street sign, and they're still gettin 4 foot or so storm surges. Good news, hight ide was about two hours ago.

We're still in the eye, and it's VERY windy, which seems to be helping dry out the yard. No water in the house yet, unfortunately, for our neighbors right down the road...well, let's just say the street is flooded.

Once the Atlantic side surges calms, it will cros, and the bayside storm surge will start, which is (hopefully) less of a threat for us personally, but could really hurt the restaurant.

We're still safe, but we need to start cooking! I'm starving!

We took home a bunch of food that would have spoiled, so we have mussels, shrimps, scallops, as well as turkey, ham, sandwich stuff and dry food.

I think this is the last one we're dealing with. Ever. Larry's really mad at the owner and sick of the lack of respect he has for his employees and their safety.

Well, good. This could have been worse than it was. I was glad to hear it was only a Cat 2 when it crossed the keys. I was worried it would be stronger and would have taken any number of the bridges out and you'd be stranded a long time.
