I was hoping *57 would work (call trace, info sent to an Unlawful Call Center)
I also found out that these kids called the number that is listed in the phone book and got my cell number from the stbx, who said it sounded like a young girl. Stbx didn't hesitate in giving the number. She has caller ID, but the number came up as "Blocked" but the call was received about 1 minute before I got the call on my cell.
some things that have occurred to me:
if I get another call, I can "click" one of the buttons and say "Operator, this is the call I would like traced."
I could also blow a police whistle into the phone
I could begin reciting the Lord's Prayer
Since these are kids, and most likely my students, they prolly don't realize that this phone call will show up on the phone bill as a toll call. I'm guessing the parents will want to know why someone called a toll number so late at night. Perhaps they'll dial the number and try to find out who it is, and then....... |
I do hope you get to the bottom of it. There is no excuse for this behavior...ever. It is small minded ignorance...and that usually starts at home so please don't expect too much from the 'parent' if they bother to check.....but there are always exceptions and I hope this is the case here.
Personally....I'd want to kick their a$$ ... but then violence is not the answer either

Then they win.

Diva...Postmarked date doesn't mean anything when sending bills. First class mail can take up to 7 days for delivery (even if it's two door down the street), priority mail is 2-3 days. Once it's received at it's destination, it could take up to 7 BUSINESS days for posting. Rule of thumb is to mail your bills at least 12 days prior to due date.

This is probably why the law looks at the postmarked date. But when the mail is MIA, and there's no receipt....
I know with my income taxes (yup, had to pay big this year), I had it postmarked on the due date but forgot to drop it in the mailslot (don't ask!). Stuffed it back in my bag for a week. Dropped it in the mail and had no late charges. But when paying bills through the bank, I have been charged extra for being late, since the bank takes a few extra days.

Somehow I suspect their intention for harassing isn't to get people to drop their cell plans. To a phone-harrasser, 'winning' is likely to cause keltic frustration, paranoia, time-wasted pursuing them, anger, vengeance..which really, they've 'won' already. Of course, I'm tongue-in-cheek with the get rid of the cell comment, but actually, it'd end the calls pronto and the harrassers would 'lose' imho.
