Posted: 11/09/05 - 08:45 Post subject: given the choice of weavers or paolos... (Amazing Race)
I'm to the point where I'd pick Paolos, my previously least favorite team, yeah, I'd pick THEM over the weavers every day and twice on Sunday. And the weavers weren't even a clost to last last night, which was disappointing. But they are making me crazy. I think part of my problem is that they claim their Christianity is this giant burden and why everyone hates them. As a Christian I find them offensive and immature and a poor example of my definition of Chritianity. I wish they were a little more self reflective to see that "Hey, its when we are acting the LEAST Christ-like and the fact that we're complete jerks that people don't like us!" They also realize that its a competition for ONE team to win a million dollars. No team wants another team to win. They act like they are all excluded, but its not like the other teams are running with arms linked. So whiny. And I want to have sympathy for them but they make it tough.
I am glad the Bransons beat out the Paolos, I like them. I do like the Linz's for teh win still. The Gadzooksies will self destruct just enough before the end to get second to the Linz's I know my sisters and I couldn't make an entire race together, I'm just saying... , Bransons in third (4th place plus ole wally will probably hold them back) And if all is right with the world, the Weavers will get an opportunity very soon to bemoan how hated they are, from the comfort of their own home.

? I watched the last 3 minutes last night only so I have no idea! It was funny with the underwear. I just kept wondering that by next episode, they will change the rules on "piling on clothes". I thought it was really nice of the team to inform the last place team that they were last and to put on some extra clothes in case they aren't eliminated.

you only saw the last 3 minutes of the 1st of 2 episodes they saw last night!
I loved the underwear! I too am surprised about them not making that a rule, but I guess they figure if they are willing to look that stupid they can do whatever htey want.

I'll be glad when the Gadzooksies & the Weavers leave the show. Didn't lose any sleep over the Paulo's leaving last night.
When the Weavers are on the mat and they have been eliminated from the race, I bet one of the daughters is going to combust right in front of of Phil.
The Linz family is my favorite and I think they will win it.

I like the Weavers. Simply because the mom seems so strong, pulling the family together, and kicking butt. I have a soft heart for single moms struggling to raise a family by herself. I think they are genuinely nice people. I felt bad for them when the mom tried to high five the other team and got no response. That's very hurtful. I don't think the Weavers had done anything vile to deserve that type of treatment from anyone.

Really? Of all the Amazing Race shows so far, I think the Weavers are hands down the most two-faced, evil people ever to enter the show. And to think they are using God to win disgusts me. (sorry if that last sentence sounds harsh - I didn't really know how to phrase that differently)

They're pretty odd in that they have a strong faith in Christ they don't conceal or deny in public. They are competitive, but so are the other teams. What about the Paolo family? They can say they love each other very much when they are relaxing at the pit stop, but the way to spoke to each other presented much differently. The son for one, threatening to off his mom and saying no one will ever find her body was probably meant as a joke, but I have a hard time believing he meant at least 50% of it from the tone of his voice. I know evil when I see and hear it. The Weavers are not evil in my opinion.

Jonathan and Victoria had their share of problems - but it was mostly between one another. I look at the Paolo family the same way. They aren't really ridiculing other groups - just each other.
The Weavers, on the other hand - countless times making fun of the other groups behind their backs and in the same breath thanking God for getting them through the challenge? Come on. Sure, the other groups haven't been overly nice to them, but for the most part it's because the Weavers weren't nice to the other groups.
But, as you said, that's only my opinion.

My thoughts too. Maybe replace "evil" with "malicious" but
IMO I think they might be competing in this too soon. They seem insecure, a little unstable (understandably, I mean, their whole world has been turned upside down) and insecurity has lead to their being defensive and thus have turned everyone against them. I don't know, but I wouldn't want to go through a grieving process on TV. WWJD? probably not attempt to sabotage other teams. But I don't know. Also: why do they assume no one else is Christian? (or maybe they polled everyone off camera...)

Being a Christian has nothing to do with it, IMHO. It is a contest with a large prize at the end. However, you can compete on the show while treating the other teams with respect, having fun, competiting hard without complaints.

I absolutely cannot stand the Weavers. And I'm a huge fan of the Linz's.
1. You absolutely do not ever make fun of the manner in which someone provides a livlihood for their family (Mr. Paolo being a garbage truck driver).
2. They made fun of the girl team saying they had fake boobs and then 5 seconds later were moping about no one wanting them there....
3. They made fun of the Linz boys calling them stupid.
OK... something I know for a FACT about the Linz boys.... They are from around here... They all three went to St. Xavier High school.... You have to be smart as HELL to get in that place!!!! That is the #1 boys high school in the state, and although I have not checked anywhere, I'd feel comfortable arguing that it is probably ranked somewhere in the top high schools academically in the country. Those are some SMART BOYS! Megan went to Miami University at Oxford, which is not exactly the easiest school to get in......
The Weavers totally amaze me on a weekly basis.... they assume that the Linz boys are dumb because they are muscular....
They have no respect for what people do to earn a living.
They have no respect for anyone, including themselves.
I cannot wait to see them on the Early Show.... I want to see how they are respresented in that particular light.
OK, enough from me.
