I was in a gifted program from 3rd grade until 8th grade. Then they canceled the whole thing to build more bleachers for the football stadium.

My experiences were all positive. I gained a lot from being involved.

I was in a situation where my state's school system was so far behind (#51 - behind Puerto Rico), that the gifted program probably helped put me on an even academic playing field when I finally moved away.

I didn't have the crazy parents though.... they told me I was really a dumbass on a pretty frequent basis. Wink

I've got 2 of those gifted one: you gotta tell 'em that just to keep 'em humble

scary thing is that #3 kid has gained a bunch of knowledge because of the older 2 being so smart. He uses the following words in complete sentences, correctly and in the right context: ridiculous, fragile, responsibility I'm amazed
