I've had good luck with Homelite weedeaters. Don't care for their chainsaws but the weedeaters have been reliable.

Definitely. Cheap stuff is usually only good for a season or two.

I'm in exactly the same boat...my trusty Husqvarna finally packed it in.
After looking at various brands, I think I'll end up with a Shindaiwa.
The local dealer sells both 2- and 4-strokes, but he said the 2-strokes have a better power-to-weight ratio.

I got a 10-yr old Sears super-sale Craftsman. Starts everytime.
/of course here in the tundra I only use it a half-dozen times a year
