i took the morning off so i could go with my wife to take Sawyer to the dentist. I think I've posted before about how traumatic this is for him. He has to be sedated because there is usually a fair amount of work to do. So today he got another stainless steel crown, 2 fillings, and had 2 teeth pulled. So now nearly everything is covered in steel or filled, or gone. There's actually not much more that the doc could do. In addition to the Versed meds, this am, he got "giggle gas" that really made a difference. He laughed when the drill touched his teeth! at one point he told the Dentist "I'm starting to like you!" Waiting for the gas to kick in, Sawyer said to him, "So what are you up to today?" It went so well that the Dentist told him to go to grandpaps and have some candy, (he couldn't possibly do any more damage to his teeth, they're all steel) and to take 2 toys from the toy chest, and he got a balloon. This is the first time they kept the door open while they worked on him. Downside, Sawyer got sick on the way home and tossed his cookies....

Wow. Why are his teeth so bad?
Note: I am not insinuating you feed him candy for breakfast. My mom had horrible teeth as a child and had full denture by the time she was 14.

bad genes for baby teeth, mine were rotten, wife's came in without enamel. Upside: we've got beautiful permanent teeth, and so do our older kids!
you really think we should give up on buying the sugar-frosted sugar bites as a breakfast cereal?

a lot of this work started years ago when he still needed those baby teeth to last him a while. Those molars are in there for quite some time. So today really was the end of the work. Dentist said there's not much more we can do. everything is crowned, there are no top incisors, canines are filled, and now 2 of the bottom incisors are loose. I'm happy that the 2 top incisors were pulled. They were getting ugly and had spaces between them, so now his smile will be all gums until the permanent teeth start in.

My mom was in her 20s and my dad got his very first cavity at 65. Unfornuately I inherited my mothers genes.
