for me I live by the addage, it is easier to ask forgiveness than permission. In my line of work sometimes quick decisions just have to be made. I would rather make the decision and be wrong then wait for an answer that may take too long.

I'm 50-50. I'd like to be a little more forgiveness but I still have a touch of permission.

I'm situational. Mostly, I fly by the seat of my pants too; but when the big bucks are involved, the chicken in me comes out. I'd rather have permission to spend $100K, rather than do it and have to beg forgiveness later!

In fire/ems we have set procedures and guidelines, but as most decisons involve lives, the rule of thumb is to act first ask permission later.

I follow the forgiveness route when I know I won't be given permission...

I do bounce around depending on the situation. But on the whole i Think I ask permission more than having to deal with asking for forgiveness
