I know this may sound funny, but do I basically have until the time that I submit my application to take the GMAT?

I think so. But you have to see when they're offered, sometimes the last one that will count before your app is due is months in advance. Example: I started school in August. The last LSAT I could take to be considered for that fall was in February.

Were I you (and I pray daily that someday I will be) I'd call the GMAT people and see the dates, then call a couple schools and ask which is the last one they'll consider.

Depends on the school and your undergrad grades.

What you need to be concerned with is what the cut off date is for when they accept completed applications (meaning with test scores) and when you want to start taking classes. Most grad school applications will come into the admissions office piece-meal, so you can send in your application first and your test scores later as long as they are all in by the cut off date.

That being said, all schools offer a non-matriculated status. This is when you take courses (usually 3 classes) but your application is not complete.

Hope this helps.
