no, that stays open longer
talk to jrjo, he ran it last year
i am right now kind of against running this again-3rd straight year...unless...we get a bunch of riff-raffers to go.
it was nice meeting amy and jerry last year...
if no one wants to do this, no sweat, i'm just throwing it out there.

And what's the actual date of it? I would cancel my planned fall event if it meant meeting up with some more of you folks!
Jrjo, what's the gist on the 10 mile registration?
FOUND IT!
http://www.twincitiesmarathon.org/
10 miler: first 4,000 registrants. And, men, there were almost 1000 more women that ran this one! WooHoo!!!
There's also a 5K, and it says you can register for it day of.

This is all new stuff on the website....
TC10 registration starts July 13th and ends July 22nd with a lottery to be held for the 4,000 bibs.
Can't say I'm too happy about that.
Event-wise it really is a great run. Running a 10-miler that has the support and organization of a marathon is pretty cool, they do a great job. And having ran the TCM in '00, being able to hit Summit Avenue last year with legs full of energy was a literal high. Then to be able to round that final corner and have the Capitol in sight and be able to actually sprint to the finish was soo nice. Anyway, I'll have my name in the lottery.
How 'bout that Sioux Falls halfM on Sept 7th, Coach..you gonna lobby it for a RR-event?

Another marathon I have tucked in the back of my mind from reading some good reports (right Eric?) is Jacksonville on Dec 14th, if I get my head back into 26.2 later this year and airfares come down by then.

The Sioux Falls 1/2 marathon is a definate on my schedule. Don't know how much lobbying I can do to make it a riff-raff event, since SD is so far away from everyone.
However, this is a great run. I've run it twice, and I have my top two times for the 1/2 there. Mostly run on the bike trails around the city of Sioux Falls, near the Big Sioux River for most of the run. It's a great race.

Does Jax have a half too?? That might stir up the southern crowd...
I am leaning toward not making TCM an event, only because of the lottery and the early closure, we may want to pick something we know we can all get into. Anyone else got some alternate suggestions we can look at, and then vote on??

G,
I'm all about the Mt. Rushmore Intl Marathon in Rapid City, SD.
http://www.mountrushmoremarathon.com/
October 12th, 2003. I ran the 2000 version, and it's still my fastest marathon. Beautiful scenery, organized well enough, but still small enough that friends and family can drive along the course and make several "cheering spots".
Also, Jerry and Alan are talking about running a marathon in dallas in Dec, possibly the same date as Jacksonville. (I'll edit this later, with a link)

Coach---didn't you mention something in SD in June.......we're planning a summer vacation around that area mid-June.
Also---Fox Cities is Sept 28th this year. My house is about 2 miles from the start if you are interested.

I had thought about White Rock myself, Brian the Running Wolf has done that and it might be near Kattzoo too??? I forget where you are, Katz!
Mt. Rushmore is pretty, I bet!!!! Hmmm.....are flights plentiful into SD though, for those of us traveling? I think that drive is a little long from the East.............

Costwise, at least from here, RAP, DFW, & JAX are all nearly the same ..quite a bit

Fox Cities is looking pretty good. Here is the website.
http://www.foxcitiesmarathon.org/index_main.asp
That's about a 7.5 hour drive for me, but that is alright. Rapid City is 5 and 1/2 hours from my house too! So two hours difference...
I am definately intrigued by the possibility of this.
Anyone else interested?
