did you know there is an athlete's heart beat? years ago i was being treated for dehydration on field manuevers. the nurses called the doctor over who listened and without skipping a heart beat asked me how much i ran. i told him that the amount of hours i spend skating and training a week and apprently this a a normal little extra push done to maximize the VO2 that the body adapts too. it can and does show up on the EKG strips too.

the problem is that not medical people are exposed to high level endurance athletes. I am not stating that if a medical person tells you that you have a murmur that you don't but you might want to be refered to a cardiologist if they don't make they reccomendation yourself.

yep.....hubby had it......they basically have to rule everything else out. He had to wear a holter moniter and did the tip test. It's hard to explain to underwriters that there is nothing wrong that sometimes you can be in too good of shape. And it pisses me off so much I tell my hubby "that's it I'm going back to work, they obviously can't find knowledgeable underwriters anymore"

My HR in the middle of the day barely makes it into the 40's on most days. My EKG shows strain and inverted t's. All the making of a heart attack, or an athletes heart.

When I complain about my low HR (Sometimes it gets to 32-33) they tell me to go away, it's normal. I tell them I'm getting ready to pass out.

Normal my arse.

BTW, it's not a bad idea to take an EKG to your races. Mine is so abnormal they would rush me to the cath room.
