I'm finally convinced that we do not need cable TV in our home. I haven't watched it in about 2 weeks. The kids have only watched it in boredom, not with any urgent desire. I'm going to keep it until the Olympics (when ARE the Olympics anyway?) and then I'll pay myself an extra $45/month.

I really, sincerely like pop culture though. Maybe I'll change my mind.

I've had that thought lately too because I rarely ever watch TV but when I do, it's always a cable channel---I could NEVAH give up my Real World/Road Rules Challenge Wink

And the Food Channel
And Discovery
And.....no, that's about it.

Think of it as an investment in better reception for the regular channels. Wink

I cut mine off. It makes for very lonely weekends filled with golf, infomercials and nascar

I think there is a balance and I think that balance involves cable. The better TV (read: less 'reality') is on cable. I think I'm getting it again when I move. I can only take so much.

I gave up cable two months ago. Got a big old rabbit ear on top of the tube, and now get ABC, CBS, a fuzzy NBC, FOX, UPN and PBS.

I don't miss it a bit.

Maddy wasn't thrilled at first, but last week when she got out the "Uno" cards instead of watching TV it was really pretty nice. She beat me BTW.

Gave up internet at home, too. I'm sure my IT director, who is probably also reading this, isn't too amused with that.

I was thinking about trading off cable TV for a Internet cable. I don't think that the kids would appreciate it though.

We haven't had cable since 1995. No rabbit ears or nuffin. We do have cable internet though and a Blockbuster Movie pass.

guess what folks...the only thing cable and satilite tv has done is make it take longer to channel surf.

while i do appreciate and enjoy my food network, discevery/TLC/discovery health, and very occasional MTV; in the last 6 months that i really spent watching tv all it was was thurs nite on NBC. friends, whatever, and ER. i think ive watched maybe 5 hours of tv total since i got done with school. and i really dont miss it...
