I know what you mean blue. Sometimes my kids or Jerry will say or do something and suddenly I will see them not as their mother or wife, but as their friends might see them, or a total stranger. I'll notice features in their face or in their personality that, while it was there all the time, I had never really considered before. I wonder how I can so love this person when we are so distant. The feeling is fleeting, but intense.
