john digweed, who is more or less the number #1 dj in the world is spinning tonight at this new club that opened up here.
that's insanity. it's the dance music equivalent of the rolling stones, or jimi hendrix... and i just found out today. TODAY!!!
i have 2 1/2 hours to find someone to go with to what is a club event the likes of which my fair canadian prarie cd will never see again.
blast!

well, instead i went out and bought Homework by Daft Punk, and 1999 by Cassius.
they should tide me over now.

omg someone else who like dance music!!!
digweed rocks the hizouze. the only sucky thing is that he has gone midstream, so the last few times ive been to see him, the club was some fancy schmancy joint in midtown, with all these yuppie, trendy people, who only know a few of the more popular songs.
noone good comes around here anymore.... the best show that ive seen in a while was aphrodite a few months ago. it was incredible...
who else do you listen to?

well i'd be lying if i said i was his biggest fan. i just know a show like that is something to be experienced, so i really wanted to go. we never get anything on that level.
i'm big into house. funky soulful house. i'm really big into the Hed Kandi compilations, Disco Heaven, Deeper, and Twisted Disco...
i couldn't have a favorite artist because most only put out singles and what not... but the likes of Bob Sinclar, Daft Punk, Dimitri From Paris, and that french sound is generally what i lean to. i really dig the vocal songs, where they just let go...
but usually my music consists of me finding charts, downloading anything that doesn't sound much like trance, and going for some funky house beats. i like things you can dance too, but if there's a good flow of trance i can handle that too.
yourself?
ps. if you haven't heard the track At Night by Shakedown, download the original and the kid creme mix. just an amazing song.

oooh, i like house too, especially vocals. one of my faves is a remix of the outfield song "use your love tonite" (i think thats the title) i love this song! i think there are a few different mixes out there, but i am crazy about all of them. and the local 80s station plays the original a lot too so i get the best of both worlds.
daft punk is good too, have you heard of eiffel 65? they sound alot like DP, very euro popy but good. i also have a bunch of tori amos and sarah mclaughlin remixes, excelent if you like vocals...
i like break beats too, we saw baby anne a few weeks ago, it wasnt all that great but i wasnt really in a "party" mood...
have you seen the movie groove? its an indie film from 2000. digweed is in it and at the endof the movie, he spins some tracks from the bedrock album (track #10 on the second cd of the set is my fave!)
feel free to pm me if you want some good stuff to listen too, my bf has tons of stuff he downloaded and knows alot more names of djs and songs than i do.

let me tell you about effiel 65. that little song "blue (da ba dee)" was played every 10 minutes when it came out. they need to be shot in the face. lol. anyhoo.
the sarah mclaughlin stuff is pretty decent, i do love her voice.
but you need some good up tempo stuff. pm me a list of tunes, and i'll whip you up a list or two... maybe when my soundcard is working we can compare lol.
