And as far as the mega-dollars spent on the whole production....
...that's just what they want you to believe. Now, how many of you (in particular, female shoe buyers!) have ever seen a pair of shoes that'd set you back 50k? No one? Didn't think so. And do you have an idea why? Well, as we're all being cynical and disbelieving about the whole thing, let's go ahead and say that the shoes didn't cost that much but that whoever provided the shoes claimed that they cost that much. In return, that person gets a shot at writing that cost off as a form of advertising.
I used to be amazed at what people would watch on television to entertain themselves. I stopped and adopted a rather jaded view when Jerry "I'll Pay By Check" Springer started his circus. Bachelor/Bacherlorette? Not on the same (low) level as Jerry but still....
Hey, it'd be a boring world if everyone was the same. Different strokes and all that boat floating stuff, as far as I'm concerned. I mean, there are people who enjoy watching the WWF!

I haven't seen $50K shoes but I also haven't seen shoes with 8 karats of bling on them either. But I know what you are saying, I'm sure thats what happened here. ABC didn't pay $3 whatever million for the whole occasion but some people provided goods and services equal to that about, maybe some reduced fees were exchanged and called it even for the promotions. The Lodge at Ranch Mirage where the wedding took place even has a link to its place on ABC's website.
The Bachelor/Bachelorette is trash TV but isn't on the same level as Jerry Springer/WWF is it??

Well, I can't really comment on how much acting went/goes on in any of them but...nah! Think about it - last night on The Wedding of the Decade, did the censor's finger get a workout like on Springer's show? And I'm sure that there was some walk-through for the wedding but was it choreographed like the WWF? Not hardly! I mean, come on! Springer's show is an insult to trash t.v. It borders on the bizarre. (Am I being too kind?)
Rest easy. Watching last night's festivities didn't lower your I.Q., did it?

I wouldn't watch the show but did read an article about the shoes. Yes, $50K for those custom-made Stuart Weitzman originals encrusted with diamonds and platinum. They were beautiful. I love his shoes. So comfortable and elegant. I love his Bid For A Cure held each October, too, where famous athletes decorate a stiletto and then they're auctioned for this great charity.

Hmmm, I wonder what the opening bid would be for, say, LeBron James? Tiger Woods? Anna Kournikova? Lance Armstrong? Brett Favre?
You just never know what kind of $$ it's going to take to get one of those top-notch, famous athletes.
